While Ms. Bert is Out - 5/20 Game Plan :)
PI Superstars,
I'm sorry to miss class with you today, but I know you're in good hands. I've shared these plans with your guest teacher, but I wanted to make them available to you here as well in case you want to use this as a checklist.
2nd Hour & 3rd Hour
Canvas Quiz – Students will complete the Act 3 quiz on Canvas. It should be silent until the last quiz is completed. They need to move away from their groups before starting the quiz. They may not access outside sights and should show you their finished quiz screen before accessing anything else on their Chromebooks. They know this routine – they will raise their hand once they are done, so you can check them.
Shakespearean Insults Discussion – If students did not complete the Insults Discussion from yesterday, they should do that on Canvas.
Rice University Production – Once students are ready, they can watch the Rice University production of Act 3 using Canvas and their headphones. They should start at 53:52, which matches up with the bottom of page 108 in their books. They will stop watching at 1:05 when Act 4 starts.
Act 3 Scene 2 Summary – Students should add to their summary after viewing the production and then post on Canvas.
Act 4 Theatre Groups – Students will read Act 4 in their theatre groups. These have been arranged previously – they are in groups of 4 or 5. Marissa’s group may read in the hall. The roles are as follows:
- Student 1 – Titania, Hippolyta, Helena
- Student 2 – Bottom, Egeus, Quince
- Student 3 – Peaseblossom, Oberon, Lysander, Starvling
- Student 4 – Cobweb, Puck, Demetrius, Flute
- Student 5 – Mustardseed, Theseus, Hermia, Snug
If there is no student 5, Student 1 will play Mustardseed and Snug, Student 2 will take Hermia, and Student 4 will take Theseus.
These are posted on Canvas. Students will read to the bottom of each page, discuss and create a verbal summary with their group, and then move on. Any reading that is not finished should be done for homework. There will be an Act 4 quiz tomorrow.
Any student who is finished early can reread to prepare for the Act 4 quiz or read a free reading book.
