I began my experiment by collecting raw data concerning the resistance bands.

I mounted a Vernier Dual-Range Force Sensor and connected it to the Vernier LabPro, which I connected to the laptop computer (Figure 2 and Figure 3). I then hung a resistance band from the spring and later on suspended the bucket and masses (Figure 4).

The data I collected was force (in Newtons) and displacement (in meters). The force sensor measured the force and I measured the displacement with a tape measure. The displacement was equal to the length of the band with the additional mass minus the original length of the band without any additional mass. After I hung the resistance band on, I zeroed the force sensor and my first data point was collected with a force of 0 and displacement of 0. I proceeded to add on the bucket and the half-kilogram masses on one at a time. I collected data each time I added mass and lengthened the band. I repeated this procedure for each resistance band. I had three different types (Figure 1) of bands. The black band was the thickest band, the blue band was the thinnest band, and the red band was in between the black band and blue band.

Figure 5 shows the raw data I received for each band. Note that the color of the Force corresponds with the band type (blue font = blue resistance band).

Figure 6 shows a graph of the data I received for each band.
